Enhancing Senior Safety: The Expansion of EASE to Private Estates
Following the significant success and positive reception from HDB residents, the Enhancement for Active Seniors (EASE) program is set to broaden its reach. Recognizing the importance of aging in place safely, the initiative is expanding to support seniors living in private properties through the newly introduced EASE (Private) scheme. This move ensures that more seniors across the country can enjoy a safer and more independent lifestyle within their own homes.
Subsidized Home Improvements for Better Accessibility
The program focuses on practical solutions that address the daily mobility challenges faced by the elderly. Under EASE (Private), eligible households can choose from seven specific types of senior-friendly fittings designed to reduce the risk of falls and improve overall comfort. To help manage the costs of these essential upgrades, the government is providing $1,200 in vouchers, which covers approximately 75% of the fitting expenses.
Phased Rollout and Application Details
To ensure a smooth and efficient process for all applicants, the program will be implemented in stages. The application window is scheduled to open in phases starting from 1 April 2026. This forward-planning allows families to assess their home needs and prepare for the upcoming enhancements.
